That Gory Animated Film Ending That Stays With Fans

Out of every mature cartoon movies I’ve ever watched, no other has remained with me quite like the terror-laced ending of a viscerally violent and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, the Spanish filmmaker crafted a grim, bleak , frequently brutal universe that included some tiny , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a drive to push animation even more, the director explained that it was actually an effort to communicate a global, cross-cultural message about “the mutual source of each battle.”

That message is expressed by means of a group of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly inspired by a famous line of cuddly figures.

Being raised in a community built around aggression as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, thanks to a holy book which states them they were once masters of the woodland, until these creatures forced them out.

Some have not completely fallen for the brainwashing, and would rather sample narcotics or mate in the woods.

Unlike their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings display genitals , definite urges.

For a certain particularly cruel, pessimistic creature, Bluey, the battle with unicorns becomes a road toward dominance — and especially to supremacy above his softer, more compassionate sibling Tubby.

Bluey behaves aggressively and an apparent sociopath , and while horror takes over his squad and claims his comrades sequentially, he grabs progressively control personally, through ever more bloody, harmful methods.

At the same time, these mythical beings are experiencing their own terror, in the form of a growing, deadly beast in their forest.

“At the beginning, it feels like a humorous movie,” the director commented. “But then it becomes a more dramatic and sad movie. And by the end, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars begins similar to among the quirky features by an iconic animator, that uncover a mischievous joy in permitting animated figures swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Then it evolves into something more like a bleaker work from the same artist, including ever more visual gore , a tangible link to the real suffering of conflict.

Ultimately, it is a full-on theatrical horror bloodbath.

The fear that makes this an ideal spooky-season viewing starts much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is ideal for the devoted gorehounds, for enthusiasts of graphic films who desire to see something they have not watched previously, and are able to withstand a plot that offers absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the conclusion will burrow under your skin and linger.
