The President Welcomes Families of Shot National Guard Members to White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their honor.
White House Invitation
The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in DC.

“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to assist people.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed a news show that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
